Live UK Poker June 3rd to 5th 2011

It is a big-ish weekend on the other side of the “pond” at the WSOP, but for those of you who are keeping your feet firmly in the UK (or saving your money until the Main Event), there is plenty of live poker action throughout the UK this weekend. There is no truth in the rumour that Phil Ivey will be playing in any of them even though he has nothing better to do right now!

The major UK live event can be found (again!) at Dusk till Dawn in Nottingham, where they are hosting a £300.00 + £36.00 deepstack tournament with a massive £100.000 guaranteed prize fund. Two Day Ones, on Friday and Saturday, allow the opportunity to re-enter on the Saturday if you bust out at your first attempt. Get all the info at the DTD Poker web site.

Friday 3rd June

40 seems to be the number of the night, with a host of clubs and casinos up and down the country hosting games with a £40.00 buy-in.  We´ve picked a few which should be well attended and where you will find the biggest prize pools.

Rendezvous Casino, Brighton – A reasonable start (8.15) and nice location right on the marina for this £40.00 weekly freezeout NLHE event, with 7,500 starting chips and re-entry available during the first three levels.

Mint Casino, Glasgow – A Jackpot NLHE tournament with a difference! The winner gets to pick a ticket out of a hat for each eight players that have entered the game. If he picks his own name he wins a minimum £1,000 jackpot. £40.00 for the game (8.30 start) and £10.00 towards the jackpot.

Shuffles, Portsmouth – Early birds receive a bonus 1,000 chips for this 8.00pm £40.00 NLHE semi-freezeout. 8,000 starting chips with the option of a second life on an add-on of 10,000 chips

Saturday 4th June

Dusk till Dawn is not the only venue holding a major Deepstack tournament this weekend, and getting involved in one on a Saturday would make better sense than trying to get up for work on a Monday on the back of a (hopefully) long night out.

G Casino, Brighton – A turbo deepstack tournament (if you call “turbo” 15 minute blinds) at the “G”, for just £15.00 buy-in and £4.00(!) registration. 10,000 starting chips and an 8.15pm start.

Circus Casino, Stoke – 5,000 starting chips might not be considered a very deep stack, but this £15.00 + £0.50 (hope you are paying attention G Casino!) NLHE tournament offers players a £1,500 guaranteed prize pool.

Mint Casino Brighton – Brighton looks like the place to be for all the action, with a deepstack £100.00 + £10.00 tournie at The Mint – only this one gives you free burger and chips during the first break! 8.00pm start and if you register early you get an extra 1,000 chips added to your stack.

Sunday 5th June

Big prizes everywhere (maybe Phil will make an appearance after all!). A nice way to pay for your summer holidays if you finish deep in any of these tournaments, or you could always fly to Las Vegas with your winnings – we hear there are a couple of seats available!

Sovereign Club, Farnborough – 48 hours membership required before you can enter this £200.00 NLHE freezeout. £10,000 guaranteed prize pool, 15,000 starting chips and 40 minute blinds mean that this is not going to be a fast tournie – you will be made to work for your money! Call 01252 370048 for info

Aspers, Newcastle – Aspers host a £50.00 + £5 buy-in at 4.00pm on Sunday which is always a popular event. Expect £5K in the pot from entry fees PLUS another grand donated by the casino. Players get 8,000 starting chips, but treat them with care as there are no second chances!

Grosvenor Victoria Casino, London – The “Vic” stages the G Casino “Loyalty Bonus” final which has 100 qualifiers from their online operation but also 50 seats available for a £200.00 direct buy-in. That makes a total prize fund of £30,000 and you are likely to see the cream of the UK´s WSOP challenge flexing their muscles before flying off to Vegas! Kickoff at 3.00pm. 10,000 starting chips. 30 minutes clock.
