Full Tilt has announced that two of poker’s most well-known online high-stakes pros–Viktor Blom and Tom Dwan–have signed deals to represent the poker site.
With the Full Tilt relaunch a mere three weeks away, the young pros join Gus Hansen as part of the site’s new marketing strategy that has dubbed the group “The Professionals.” Dwan, who established his reputation at Full Tilt under the screen name of “durrrr,” has clashed with Blom at high-stakes action at Full Tilt in the past, creating some of the largest pots in the history of online poker. The pair are expected to “reignite a fierce competition at the highest stakes tables on the Full Tilt Poker site,” according to a press release.
Blom, who plays under the moniker of “Isildur1,” hid his real identity for over a year before revealing himself to the public in 2011. Blom had been representing PokerStars prior to concluding their sponsorship agreement in August.
I always loved playing on the Full Tilt Poker software, it is where I made my name and enjoyed some of my greatest victories, Blom said.
When they approached me about joining the team, I knew this was the right fit for me.
Dwan and Hansen were both part of Team Full Tilt prior to Black Friday and had nothing to do with the mismanagement and downfall of the company. Both are extremely marketable players–as is Blom. Dwan recently moved from the U.S. to Macau in order to secure eligibility to play at and represent the soon-to-be relaunched online poker site.
Tom is one of the most feared and respected players in the world today, said Full Tilt’s Head of Marketing, Sarne Lightman.
His exploits at the Full Tilt Poker tables generated a huge following in the poker community and we are thrilled to bring that action back for our players.
In addition to their high-stakes online cash game action, Blom and Dwan have also cashed in live tournament competition and will be representing the site at a multitude of live tournaments. Full Tilt carefully selected both young poker stars–as well as Hansen–in improving their tarnished image as a result of the financial problems that were revealed following Black Friday.
The game of poker is always evolving, Lightman said.
In choosing our Pros, we approached the three poker players whose unique and innovative styles have had the most impact on how modern poker is played.
