llan Peers won the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) Stockton No-Limit Hold’em Deepstack main event for £11,000 at the Grosvenor G Casino outlasting a field of 72.

Englishman llan Peers won the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) Stockton £500+£50 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em Deepstack main event for £11,000 at the Grosvenor G Casino after outlasting a field of 72.

The champion will no doubt be thrilled with his success, coming just one day after his football team, Liverpool, secured their place in the FA Cup Final by defeating local rivals Everton at Wembley Stadium in London – particularly as he gave up his semi-final ticket to play in the latest GUKPT event.

Peers certainly had a very enjoyable weekend, emerging victorious from the three-day tournament to secure his first live tournament crown – and in the process easily surpass his previous biggest cash of $2,006 for finishing fifth in the £75 buy-in Amateur Poker Association and Tour (APAT) European Amateur Championship at Luton’s G Casino back in late August of 2007.

Five English players filled places three to eight, with James Marriot exiting in third for £5,380, Mark O’Kane picking up £3,190 in fourth, Mark James collecting £2,560 for fifth, £1,920 going to sixth-placed Andy Lambert, CT Law leaving with £1,550 in seventh, and Darren Meynell pocketing £1,280 for eighth spot.

Spaniard David Galo left with £1,100 in ninth place, while Irishman Paul Reilly took home £520 in 10th.

Champion Overcomes Challenge of Thomas Dunwoodie

The final hand of the event saw Peers – who had stared the head-to-head with more than four-fifths of the chips – prevail against experienced Newcastle player Thomas Dunwoodie.

Dunwoodie, who had been short stacked for much of the final day, shoved all-in on the turn of a 6-7-7-9 board following a Peers bet. The latter called to show 9c-5c for two pair, while Dunwoodie’s 6♥ 3♥ had secured him a lower pair.

A jack on the river changed nothing and Dunwoodie – the 2008 Irish Open third place finisher for $433,487 – had to settle for the runner-up spot and £8,000, while Peers claimed the top prize and a trophy as the GUKPT Stockton champ.

The next stop on the GUKPT pulls into Thanet in Kent on Sunday for nine days of action at the G Casino which ends on the 30th. The £500+£50 buy-in Six-Max main event will, however, kick off on the 27th for three days’ play.

Top 10 Payouts from the GUKPT Stockton Main Event

1. Allan Peers (England) – £11,000 (approximately $17,417)

2. Thomas Dunwoodie (England) – £8,000 ($12,668)

3. James Marriot (England) – £5,380 ($8,519)

4. Mark O’Kane (England) – £3,190 ($5,051)

5. Mark James (England) – £2,560 ($4,054)

6. Andy Lambert (England) – £1,920 ($3,040)

7. CT Law (England) – £1,550 ($2,454)

8. Darren Meynell (England) – £1,280 ($2,027)

9. David Galo (Spain) – £1,100 ($1,742)

10. Paul Reilly (Ireland) – £520 ($824)

Carbon Poker are currently presenting the 2012 Poker Maximus Series, which includes 70 different events and gives players the opportunity to win a lot of money.

It a great time to be an online poker player and the right time to join Carbon Poker, which is part of the Merge Gaming Network. There are at least two fine reasons to set up a Carbon Poker account. First, they are currently presenting the 2012 Poker Maximus Series. This high profile online competition includes 70 different events and gives players the opportunity to win a lot of money and become a poker legend.

Plus, if you join via carbonpokerdownload.org you’ll receive an extra bonus. Use Carbon Poker bonus code PNRBONUS and instead of getting a sign up bonus of 100% on up to $600, you’ll receive 150% on your first deposit of up to $750. That adds up to an extra $525 in bonus cash and that can get a player a lot more action.

The 2012 Poker Maximus Series at Carbon Poker notes that from the event “A Legend Will Rise.” Any player who wins the $200,000 Guaranteed event will certainly qualify for that designation. Plus, this series gives players a lot of chances to not only win cash but also fame as an online player. The events started on March 4th but there’s still plenty of time to compete and win.

Carbon Poker Maximus runs through Sunday, March 25th, concluding with the Main event of $200,000 Guaranteed in price money. Players can qualify for the big game by competing in and winning one of many $0.55 satellites. That’s a cheap price to pay for a shot at this major online event. Plus there are many other chances to win.

Some of the major events in Carbon Poker’s Poker Maximus Series include an Main High Rollers Event with $85,000 guaranteed, a $10,000 Mini Main Event and 3 Sunday Tournaments of $150,000 guaranteed. There’s over $2.5 million in prizes being offered over the course of the three-week tournament.

Of course, Carbon Poker has a lot of traffic and a large variety of cash games, sit and goes and daily tournaments. There are six daily $200 freerolls and numerous promotions including great reload bonuses and an always-rising bad beat jackpot. Just a few months ago the bad beat, which was at over $1 million, paid one player more than $355,000 and another close to $180,000. When that bad beat occurred the other players at the table each received more than $25,000.

Joining Carbon Poker and competing in their Poker Maximus Series is a must-do for those who love to play the great game of poker. With one of the best sign up bonuses around, a wealth of games and an emphasis on fair play and security, Carbon Poker has proven to be a premiere site.

There’s no time like the present to sign up, load up with some extra cash by using our lucrative bonus code of PNRBONUS and sit down at the virtual table. Carbon Poker offers players of all kinds and with all types of bankrolls the chance to excel and win huge amounts of cash. Take advantage of the extra bonus cash and the Poker Maximus Series.

If you don’t know Carbon Poker yet, you can read a good Carbon Poker review here.

Playing poker today is a little different from what it was five or six years ago. Find some good tips here and save yourself some money.

Playing poker nowadays is a little different from what it was five or six years ago. What was effectively a popular recreation for the majority of online poker players has developed into an income source for many – often due to economic pressures from elsewhere. Although the vast majority of online poker players playing poker today are still playing recreationally, a shift is happening, and it is getting harder for novices to the game to win at poker.

Take Advantage of Sign-Up Bonuses When You Start

Conscious of the fact that new players to the game could easily get disenchanted if their first attempt of becoming a winning poker player ends in failure, online poker sites offer substantial bonuses to players making their first deposit. This enables new players to take an odd loss while developing their skills, and learning through experience that not every strategy you pick up in a poker guide is effective in all situations.

Learn About Bankroll Management and Variance

No matter how good you are at playing online poker there are going to be days when the cards will not run for you, or you find other players get lucky at your expense. Bankroll management is a system whereby your variance swings are limited to a percentage of how much money you have in your account and you are unlikely to go bust in one bad session. On the plus side of bankroll management, there is no limit to how much you can win if you enjoy a particularly successful day.

Players, Position, Cards

In order to become a winning poker player, you have to learn that the cards you are dealt are the last thing you should consider. The most important thing is to observe and interpret the betting tendencies of those seated with you at the table and act accordingly. The later position you have around the table, the more information you have about those who have acted before you, and that will influence the betting decision that you will make based on the cards you are dealt. Do not think that observation and interpretation are unimportant – other players will be using these skills to establish how to beat you!

You Do Not Need to Win to Become a Winning Poker Player

This might be a strange statement to players not “in the know”, but those playing poker today are able to take advantage of sign-up bonuses, loyalty programs and rakeback schemes in order to significantly increase their bankrolls. It takes patience, self-discipline and a little time to identify the most lucrative offers, but a breakeven player can earn several thousand dollars a month even though they finish each poker session with exactly the same number of chips in front of them that they started with.

By taking advantage of the promotions offered by online poker sites, you do not need to win to become a winning poker player. However, as you develop better poker skills, you will see opportunities open up before you that make those hours of converting bonuses and collecting bonus points for cashback schemes all worthwhile.

Club WPT is a unique poker room which operates legally in many States of America and through eligible European countries, Australia and Canada as a subscription poker site.

Club WPT is a unique poker room which operates legally in many States of America and through eligible European countries, Australia and Canada as a subscription poker site. Players pay a monthly subscription to participate in as many poker tournaments as suits their schedule, without having to pay buy-ins to any of them and keeping all the money and prizes they win.

For anybody who has not played in a subscription poker site before, the standard of play resembles a play money poker site until the serious end of the game – when it may as well be the final table of the WSOP Main Event. There is not quite as much money at stake, but with over $100,000 up for grabs each month plus thousands more in prizes and seats to live poker tournaments, an average player should cash out more than the $19.95 monthly subscription it costs to play on the site.

How Club WPT Works

There are two levels of membership – a basic membership which costs nothing to join but only entitles player to compete with play chips, and a VIP membership which is started once a player subscribes to his account and which enables him to challenge for the valuable gifts, seats and cash prizes on offer. Each player starts with 500 tournament points which they can use to enter tournaments for either play awards or real prizes. Should they lose their tournament points (or win a tournament with a cash prize), they start again with 500 tournament points the next day.

Some tournaments award tournament points instead of/as well as cash prizes, and players can build their tournament point bank to enable them to enter more valuable tournaments – the feature event being a $10,000 guaranteed tournament with a deep payout structure down to 250th place and a buy-in of 2,000 points. Satellites with lower buy-ins for this feature event run five times a day, with the top ten finishers in each tournament winning a seat at the $10K guaranteed table.

Club WPT Free Trial

Because Club WPT is a new concept to many readers of this site, here is a two week Club WPT Free Trial with immediate VIP membership status and no money to pay until you have test driven the software and played in as many free tournaments as you can fit in to your Club WPT Free Trial period. There is no catch, no underhand sales techniques or any risk to your money (because you will not be using any). Any prizes that you win within your Club WPT Free Trial are yours to keep and, as Club WPT is associated with the World Poker Tour, you can be assured on the highest level of player security and privacy.

Best Poker Bonus Codes for your Club WPT Free Trial

There are a number of “best” poker bonus codes advertised on the Internet for this superb offer, but the real best poker bonus codes for a two week Club WPT Free Trial also offer you the following benefits:-

Access to unlimited daily freeroll tournaments

Advanced strategy guide from poker stars including Antonio Esfandiari and Mike Sexton

Unibet is becoming an increasingly popular skin on the Microgaming network due to its superb software, easy level of European competition and some excellent promotions. With a nightly peak of 3,000 cash game players and thousands more competing in an extensive tournament schedule, Unibet Poker has something for everyone. Now – with a new three-tiered Unibet Welcome Bonus – it has never been easier to take advantage of some of the free money paid out by online poker sites to attract new players.

Getting Started with Unibet

The first stage of playing online poker at Unibet is to access the Unibet Poker download. Although there is a Flash/Instant Play version of the Unibet Poker download for Mac players, the Unibet Poker download for Windows provides a fuller gaming experience, with more table features and access to the more uncommon games such as 5 Card Draw, 5 Card Stud and Razz. The Unibet Poker download for Windows can be accessed via the home page of Unibet´s poker site. Simply click on the red “Poker” button with the Windows logo to get started.

Tip: Download Poker Software before Creating Account

When you first click on the red “Poker” button to start the Unibet Poker download, you are taken to a page with a 1-2-3 step guide to creating an account and downloading the Unibet Poker software. It is recommended that you jump straight to stage 3 and then create your account and your poker alias while the download poker file is running. In this way you will save yourself a little time and be sure that your computer has the minimum system requirements for the download poker software.

Unibet Poker Download System Requirements

Unibet Poker Welcome Bonuses

While the download poker file completes its job, register your account and create your alias. Thereafter you will be ready to deposit into your Unibet poker account and select your Unibet First Deposit Bonus. The amount of the deposit does not affect which bonus you are entitled to pick from and you can choose any one of the following three:-

Unibet Starter Bonus – €100.00 (Euros – not Disney money) released in units of €10.00 per 400 VIP points earned by contributing to the rake at cash games and for the fees paid to enter tournaments

Unibet Regular Bonus – €300.00 released in units of €30.00 per 500 VIP points earned

Unibet Pro Bonus – €500.00 released in units of €50.00 per 600 VIP points earned

VIP points are awarded at a rate of 10 per $1.00 raked or paid in tournament entry fees, and in addition to helping you clear your bonus, they also determine what VIP Status you achieve, which in turn establish your rate of rakeback.

As well as the Unibet First Deposit Bonuses, players will receive free tournament tickets for entry into three $500.00 freerolls and three $1.00 tournaments with $500.00 added prize money. This tournament entry bonus is irrespective of whichever Unibet First Deposit Bonus is chosen.

Unibet Poker Summary

It is not difficult to see why Unibet Poker is one of the leading skins on the Microgaming Network. A choice of bonuses to suit every player, excellent software which is easy to download, poker school, club shop and a superb loyalty program makes Unibet poker attractive to any poker player – recreational or professional.

Randy 'nanonoko" Lew became the envy of multi-tabling poker players everywhere by etching his name in the Guinness World Record books.

Randy ‘nanonoko” Lew became the envy of multi-tabling poker players everywhere by etching his name in the Guinness World Record books for playing the most online poker hands in a period of eight hours and turning a profit.

The Team PokerStars Pro played between 25 to 30 tables simultaneously, racking up 23,493 hands in the process, eking out a profit of $7.65. Not bad considering that at one point during the stretch, Lew was down $1,200.

“I really was running horrible,” Lew said of his losing streak. “I was trying to stay focused. But l still played well and tried to play my best, and eventually it worked out. Twelve hundred was rough, though. It could’ve been game over, to be honest.”

The new world record was achieved at the Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) in the Bahamas. Two large flat screen monitors were set up in a far corner of the tournament room with a backdrop of the PokerStars logo directly behind Lew’s computer and monitors. PokerStars, considered to be one of the world’s best poker sites, typically permits multi-tabling at a maximum of 24 tables, but allowed Lew to play more tables in his quest of the record.

Without taking time out for a bathroom break or even a drink of water for the entire eight-hour stretch, the thinly-built Lew proved to be an ironman on the virtual felt. Playing an amazing 48.94 hands per minute totalling 2,936.63 hands per hour, Lew tallied 22,784 FPPs during the record-breaking run. He showed poker fans a bit of how he was able to attain Supernova Elite status at PokerStars for four consecutive years beginning in 2007.

The level of concentration needed for such a remarkable feat is obviously, quite intense. Many observers wondered if the distractions surrounding Lew had an effect on his play.

“I’m not really good at blocking people out,” Lew admitted, “but I could see everyone taking pictures, and I could hear everyone talking. I’m pretty good at multi-tasking, so even though I can’t block out too well, I’m good at multi-tasking, so it wasn’t so bad.”

Lew’s accomplishment comes less than two months following his victory in the 2011 PokerStars Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Macau Main Event, a payday of $484,617. After his Guiness record, Lew assessed his recent achievements rather candidly.

“Wining APPT Macau was pretty big, and having this right after, those two things are on the top of my list at the moment, to be honest,” he said.

The nearly half a million dollars from winning the APPT is a fraction of the amount that Lew has won multi-tabling online. Since August 2008, Lew has received hole cards more than 5 million times, winning more than $2.3 million. That total does not even consider the lucrative cashback rewards enjoyed by Supernova Elite players.

With Lew’s record-setting eight hours at the PCA, he is now in a class by himself. Congratulations nanonoko on a job well done!

Some massive news arrived today with a $100 million poker tournament planned for Asia in what would be the largest tournament of all time.

William Murray, an American businessman, spoke to GamingToday about the plans, stating that a group of five Chinese firms have got together to come up with the Macau Pro Am Open, which will be held early in 2013.

The cut-off date for registration is projected to be December 15 this year, with players gaining entry on a first come, first served basis – no matter how well known a player might be.

Murray reckons these Chinese businesses will aim to create a prize pool of anywhere from $65 million to $100 million for the tournament, and that should produce a main event top prize of about $25 million – even putting the World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event winner’s cheque in the shade.

Germany’s Pius Heinz collected a rather handy $8.72 million for taking down the November Nine just last month, but that is only just over one-third of what could well be on offer in Macau. Incredible.

While chatting with GamingToday – which specialises in covering the commercial casino industry – Murray said: “The current goal is to have 500 participants with one-third coming from the Far East, one-third from the US, and one-third from other countries. The subscription for the seats in the Far East has already been taken.

“With a field as small for a total as big, we can deduce that the entry fees will be substantial – unless the sponsors, whose names are not revealed, only support a portion of the prize pool.”

That means the buy-in for the main event will most likely cost players about $200,000. Phew!

That might be a bit hopeful, though, as this year’s $100,000 Super High Roller tournament during the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) attracted just 38 competitors, with Ukrainian Eugene Katchalov leaving with $1.5 million for his victory.

However, maybe Murray hasn’t quite lost his mind as many big-name pros have been venturing east recently to take advantage of the booming high-stakes games on offer in Macau.

In fact, over the past week or so, players such as Phil Ivey, Johnny Chan, Patrik Antonius, Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan, Guy Laliberte and Andrew Robl have been spotted taking part in high-stakes games in Macau.

Murray also pointed out that a meeting was held in Hong Kong in March this year to agree on the tournament’s infrastructure and, while he didn’t give any great detail of that gathering, he did indicate that the sponsoring group has no affiliations with any casino, hotel, or any organisation, trade association or guild.

The businessman added that initial plans suggest there will be provision for players to take part in additional events, from baccarat to Texas Hold’em, to lead into the main event.

These events will possess guaranteed prize pools, with$1 million and $2 million going to the eventual winners.

Murray is excited by the prospect of the world’s biggest poker tournament and added: “This spectacular event will establish Macau as the poker tournament capital of the world and hopefully will bring the world’s top players there for cash and tournament contests.

“Macau is already the baccarat capital of the world and now we are completing the other half of the puzzle, poker.”

Online Poker Tournament Players can Purchase Bubble Insurance

Online tournament poker players who just miss finishing in-the-money now can get an insurance that will refund buy-in and rake to players who finish on the bubble.

For online tournament poker players who often find themselves just missing finishing in-the-money, a Las Vegas company is offering a unique type of insurance that will refund the buy-in and rake to players who finish on the bubble.

Although finishing on the bubble in a tournament is most often referred to as the sole player who just misses cashing out, BubbleProtection.com has developed a “bubble range” that will protect the top 10% of tourney entrants who fall outside of the cashout structure.

As an example, say 1,000 players enter a poker tournament and the payout structure affords a profit to 10% or 100 of the entrants. The bubble calculation will be the next 10% or 100 places. So if you happen to finish in the 101st to 200th place of the event, the tourney buy-in and rake will be refunded to you, provided that you purchased bubble protection within 10 minutes after the tournament’s starting time.

“We want to give players the ability to enjoy the game they love more often and more profitably through bankroll preservation, and variance reduction through the use of our proprietary Bubble Protection technology,” said Bubble Protection CEO Eugene Castro.

Bubble Protection is currently available to non-U.S. poker players for various selected tournaments scheduled at Party Poker, PokerStars and on the iPoker Network. The bubble protection site is endorsed by Chris Moorman, the British poker pro who is recognized as the winning-est player in online poker history with more than $7.5 million in earnings.

“BubbleProtection.com is the brainchild of a consortium of top professionals with over 100 years of combined experience at the top levels of the gaming, technology, economic and customer service industries,” according to the website.

In establishing the concept of bubble insurance, Bubble Protection developers claim that they wanted to assist online players who weren’t achieving optimum results in tournament play. “Bubble Protection’s genesis was the asking of a simple question, what is the single most effective way to help online poker players improve their poker results?” Castro said.

In a scan of the BubbleProtection.com website, it appears as though bubble insurance will cost 12% of the buy-in. A $22 buy-in will run $2.64 for a player wanting bubble protection, a $33 buy-in results in a bubble insurance fee of $3.96, and $51 and $109 tourney entry fees will be protected at rates of $6.12 and $13.08, respectively. Should you finish in-the-money or out of the bubble range in any tournament in which you purchase bubble insurance, Bubble Protection keeps the fee.

There is no need to apply for or file a claim to be reimbursed your tournament entry fee for a tourney in which you have purchased protection and finish in the bubble range. Bubble Protection monitors that for you and automatically credits your account at the bubble insurance website, not your player’s account at the poker rooms.

“I highly recommend players use BubbleProtection.com. It’s a great management tool,” Moorman is quoted as saying on the website. For more information, visit BubbleProtection.com.
