Estrellas Poker TourThe recently concluded PokerStars sponsored Estrellas de San Sebastian – “Estrellas” means “Stars” in Spanish – has gone to yet another PokerStars online qualifier. Following the victories of online qualifiers Antonio Dieguez in the ESPT Málaga and Alejandro Piñeiro in the ESPT Alicante, German online player Fabian Deimann took the San Sebastian leg of the Estrellas Poker Tour €64,600 and a ticket to the Main Event for EPT Barcelona at the end of the month.

History Repeating Itself

In fact, it was a double hat-trick for the tour, as incredibly both the first and second place finishers in the last three events have won their places via online satellites. Their successes continue a long line of historic victories for PokerStars qualifiers on tour:-

· The PokerStars European Poker Tour

In 2010, Michael Eiler from Germany overcame a final table in EPT Vienna which included Daniel Negreanu to collect €700,000.

In the same season, Norwegian qualifier Kevin Stani denied PokerStars pro Arnaud Mattern a historic second EPT title when winning EPT Tallinn.

Ben Wilinofsky captured one of the biggest prizes of last year´s European Poker Tour when qualifying online in Canada for the EPT Berlin and taking home €825,000.

However, PokerStars qualifier Nicolas “niccc” Chouity topped the lot when winning €1.7 million in the European Poker Tour Grand Final in Monte Carlo after winning his seat in a $22 rebuy tournament on PokerStars.

· The PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour

In this year´s Latin American Poker Tour, Chilean online qualifier Alex Manzano broke Brazilian hearts in the largest ever Sau Paulo LAPT to win $555,000.

Alex will be hoping to repeat the feat of Peruvian PokerStars qualifier Martin Sansour, who went on to claim victory in the 2010 LAPT Grand Final.

· The PokerStars Asia Pacific Poker Tour

One-two´s are not unique to Spain. In 2009, online qualifiers Simon Watts and Gerome Guitteau battled out the APPT Auckland, with Watts collecting the NZ$209,000 first prize.

It was almost 1-2 in Perth this year as well, as PokerStars qualifier Grant levy won AU$131,500 when beating compatriot John Corr and fellow qualifier Tim Marsters.

And so it goes on … …

The Italian Poker Tour, the UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT), the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure – all of these events – and more – have had winners who qualified through PokerStars satellites.

Of course, the most famous PokerStars qualifier of all must be Chris Moneymaker, who won the WSOP Main Event in 2003 and collected $2.5 million after winning a $39.00 online qualifier. In the following year, the feat was repeated by Greg Raymer, and now PokerStars sends hundreds of players every year to the world´s premier poker event via online satellites.
